This is the third year of Electrika, the UK’s only dedicated boat show for electric narrowboats, that we organise in our spare time. Originally the brainchild of Ortomarine, and in association with Aqua Vista Watersides and Marinas who have kindly allowed us to host it at Brinklow “the marina of dreams” since its inception. In fact, if it was not for the expert team at Brinklow with their enthusiasm and dedication – Electrika would never have got off the ground.
Electrika is intended to be a fun, friendly and FREE show for existing and potential electric narrowboat owners to meet up and share experiences and information. In addition new show boats are on the water for people to view, equipment manufacturers and suppliers are on hand in the exhibition tent to answer your questions and a full program of expert seminars takes place over the two days, covering important topics as shown below…

I will be doing one of the talks, “A Guide to LiFePo4 battery installation”, which should keep me busy. Even though “Old Nick” has Lead Carbon batteries, I am a member of the Inland Waterways’ (IWA) and Cruising Association’s (CA) Lithium Battery Safety Working Group, and my talk will focus on the work we are doing and the output we have produced, so far.

We have three new exhibitors so far this year; Leoch UK (battery manufacturer), Golden Arrow (Electric Motor distributor) and Blade Solutions (system integrator) and there are still a few spaces left, that we are trying to fill. Anyone interested can leave a comment below.
